across the UK and Europe, she creates landscapes, interior portraits, and alpine and winter scenes. Paintings are available to view and purchase from Red Rag Gallery, Bath.
Trained at the City & Guilds of London, Chelsea School of Art, and L’École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, Playfair combines classical discipline with an energetic, Post Impressionist sensibility inspired by Sorolla, Van Gogh and Bonnard. Her paintings are characterised by stunning use of colour and confident mark making.
The Cotswolds - her home for more than 30 years - remains a constant inspiration to many of her British paintings, providing rolling hills, bluebell woods, sheep dotted fields and richly coloured domestic interiors. Alongside these, she is widely recognised for her European alpine and winter paintings, capturing snow covered slopes, crisp light and the movement of figures in mountain settings. Her travels to Cornwall, Norfolk, Scotland and Southern Europe further expand her palette.
