Hamish MacDonald paintings were mostly painted in oils and mixed media. His very individual approach to contemporary painting created an immediacy and spontaneity to his art. Historically inspiration for Hamish MacDonald paintings came from his roots - Scottish Landscapes and Scottish Marine scenes. Later in life MacDonald extended his undoubted talents into contemporary paintings of Cornish scenes and still life. Hamish MacDonald contemporary paintings have a distinctive fluid style displaying strong bold colours. Hamish's paintings succeed in creating a sense of place and atmosphere.
