Art by Annie DREW British Art and Artists at Red Rag Gallery Annie Drew was born in Torquay, Devon, in 1990. She decided to pursue a career in art when she was 16, and enrolled in a local college. Frustrated with the college emphasis of not teaching and encouraging conventional art she decided to leave after one year and follow her dream to become a wildlife artist. Annie set about teaching herself to paint. She spent a huge amount of time and effort learning to correctly and accurately mix colours. This has proved a fundamental and invaluable skill for creating lifelike and striking pieces. Her work has improved vastly over the years, through trial and error, learning new techniques, and using the best quality materials. Today, Annie has established a fine and deserved reputation for painting highly realistic and detailed oil paintings. She is an international wildlife artist par excellence with paintings hanging in galleries as far afield as Missouri, USA Talking about her paintings Annie Drew says: 'One of my ambitions when I first started painting, was to produce art work that didnt require paragraphs of written words to explain, describe and sum up a piece of work. Ive always believed that if it has to be explained, it isnt working. Art that speaks for itself became my goal and I like to think that Ive managed it.' Annie is fanatical is her pursuit of creating the best. Using the finest quality boards, paint and brushes she has developed a close-up, detailed style of painting so that each strand of hair, every wrinkle and as much character as the original animal is visible. In 2016 Annie became a member of the Fine Art Trade Guild. They are an organisation who help to uphold the quality and ethics of the art world. Working as a member of the guild helps give reassurance that certain standard have been satisfied.
