David Farren was born in 1972 in Wiltshire. He studied Art and Design at the University of the West of England in 1998 and became a professional artist in 2000.
David Farren has quickly gained a reputation as a modern impressionist, using open brushwork and colour to represent the energy and movement of the urban landscape. His aim is to capture the ambience and individuality of cities providing a snapshot of everyday street life in his paintings and limited edition prints.
David Farren paints in both oil and acrylic, enjoying the immediacy and versatility of both mediums, appropriate for his direct style of painting. He is fascinated by the changing light within his urban scenes and uses colour to portray its effects on steel , glass and rain-washed streets.
David Farren's distinctive style has won for him many collectors. He enjoys painting the vibrant ambience and individuality of cities like New York, San Francisco, Paris and Venice and occasionally contrasts them to the beauty of the rural surroundings of his favoured Lake District.
David has exhibited widely in leading galleries across the U.K and his paintings and limited edition prints can be found in collections across the UK and abroad. Each limited edition print at Red Rag has been reviewed and signed by David Farren and like all Red Rag British art it can be shipped worldwide.
