leaving College, Tomas Clayton worked as a Graphic Designer for Independent Television and the BBC before pursuing a successful career as a freelance Graphic Designer and Illustrator.
Today Tomas Clayton is a Portrait Painter, specialising in Oil on Masonite. His paintings are incredibly detailed and are superbly painted. The work is reminiscent of the classic early days of photography, and there is an edgy element to his paintings as his subjects stare back at the viewer with unnerving intensity.
Talking about his work Tomas says: 'My main influences were, and continue to be, those painters and illustrators who first captured my imagination in the early 1970s; Wilson McLean, Paul Davis, Brad Holland, Milton Glazer, Jean Giraud, Ben Shahn, Andrew Wyeth to name but a few.'
