''Lambing Storm'' shows us a dramatic country scene. A barn in a corner of John Lines'' native Warwickshire lit by the last sunlight as the sky darkens ready for a storm. A shepherd gathers his pregnant ewes into the barn for safety.

John Lines succeeds in capturing scenes which might otherwise be passed over and forgotten. His style is very much Modern British and Lines prefers painting in oil and watercolours. He paints with honesty and conviction. In some ways ''Lambing Storm'' is not typical of the social realism contained within many of John Lines other works but it is a picture painted with the same love of the land and careful observation of his surroundings.
