'Penwith Green' shows us some traditional whitewashed farm buildings framed by wind-blown trees and immersed in the lush green grass of the foreground.

The loose and slanting brushstrokes used by John Piper in 'Penwith Green' parallel the direction of the wind and show how closely man has to accommodate nature to survive in such a rugged environment.
