All this creates a theatrical feel to Ian McWhinnie's contemporary art. Whilst not engaging with the characters portrayed, we are intrigued by them and drawn into their world.

'Quartet' shows a male singer and his three female backing singers. Each seems separate and detached from the other. The idea that they are linked in a 'Quartet' seems a cruel irony.
