Lahaina

Lahaina, the painting celebrates vibrant colour, abundant natural forms and a sense of warmth that immediately engages the viewer.

Working in acrylic, Macleod combines stylised botanical elements with her characteristic use of pattern and design. Layers of colour, texture and decorative detail interact across the composition, creating a dynamic visual experience that rewards both immediate appreciation and closer examination. Her intuitive approach to colour brings energy and luminosity to the work, while maintaining a harmonious overall balance.

Rather than depicting a location in a literal or topographical manner, Macleod captures its spirit through imaginative interpretation. Flowers, foliage and organic motifs are distilled into expressive forms that evoke the richness and vitality of the landscape. This blend of observation and invention gives the painting its distinctive sense of place and personality.

Throughout her career, Este Macleod has developed a highly recognisable style that celebrates the connections between nature, memory and decoration. In Lahaina, these themes come together in a composition that is both visually sophisticated and emotionally uplifting, demonstrating her remarkable ability to create paintings that resonate with warmth and optimism.

Rich in colour and character, Lahaina is an engaging example of contemporary British art. The painting offers collectors a joyful and imaginative work that brings the beauty of the natural world into the home through Macleod's unique decorative vision.
