dream-like quality to his contemporary art reminiscent of Chagall. Painting with acrylic on board David overlays his images with a light oil glaze to enhance depth and colours.
'The Anxious Light' shows a scene of utter despair and disaster. Small boats bob around in a very stormy sea while the unfortunate boat in the foreground has crashed into the lighthouse resulting in a man being separated from his legs while the shadow of another lies in the sinking boat. While the lighthouse appears real and seems to anchor the scene in reality, the boat and the dismembered sailor give the painting a dislocated and other-worldly feel. The painting contains unusual and quirky detail and has an individual style and surreal quality.
As well as exhibiting at Red Rag Gallery David Eustace contemporary paintings are exhibited in many Devon Art Galleries and Cornwall Art Galleries as well as London Art Galleries and abroad. Exhibitions include several appearances at the Royal Academy summer exhibition.
