The cottage is typical of many old buildings found in rural Ireland, abandoned in favour of more modern bungalows. Cormac O'Leary shows the cottage with the sun setting behind, perhaps symbolising the sun having set on a traditional way of life.
Painted in acrylic the image is strong with bold colours and clear brushstrokes. The cottage is starting to merge with the colour of the landscape.
