accomplished contemporary paintings. 'Island Ruin I' shows an abandoned cottage which seems to list precariously on the edge of a rough hill in the countryside. The cottage is typical of many old buildings found in rural Ireland, abandoned in favour of more modern bungalows. Perhaps to Cormac O'Leary the cottage is 'on the edge' both literally and metaphorically.
Painted in acrylic the image is strong with bold and clear brushstrokes. The cottage itself is starting to merge into the landscape.
