Seascape Art by Ann SHRAGER British Art and Artists at Red Rag Gallery Ann Shrager was born in London in 1948. She studied art at the Byam Shaw School of Painting and then at the Royal Academy Schools. Ann Shrager was elected a member of The New English Art Club in 1975. And, since then has participated in numerous modern art shows. Ann Shrager's art work is inspired by her various travels. Venice has always been a favourite location. More recently images of India feature predominantly in her contemporary paintings. She successfully captures the beauty and elegance of the country and its people. There is a quietness about Ann Shrager's art work. Although colour plays a key part in her paintings there is a subdued softness to her modern art. This coupled with simplicity and space are recurring themes in Ann Shrager paintings, making them enduring modern art pieces. In addition to Red Rag British Art Gallery Ann Shrager has exhibited at many other leading British Modern Art Galleries. Each painting at Red Rag is sourced from the Ann Shrager artist studio and like all Red Rag Modern art and Contemporary art it can be shipped worldwide. Human beings have always had an intimate relationship with the water. Given the amount of the earths surface which is covered in water and the often unpredictable and life-changing nature of the sea, it is little wonder that seascapes have been such a popular subject for so long and no surprise that seascape paintings have an important place in the history of art. Seascape paintings have a long history in both the Eastern and Western worlds. The walls of homes have been adorned with seascape paintings since the art of the secular painting first began to overtake religious works in numbers and importance. As a country with an extensive coastline, paintings of seascapes have always had a special attraction to British artists. All the seascape paintings at Red Rag showcase the talent of British painters and their ability to depict changing light on water and rapidly altering climatic conditions. Many of the British artists who have painted these seascape paintings are also talented landscape painters, or worked in other genres as well as seascapes, such as still life or portraiture.
