British Artist Mick Rooney RA, is a highly talented artist whose sought-after paintings are instantly recognisable. Surrealist in style, Mick Rooney’s dream-like artwork always present the viewer with an intriguing narrative to uncover.

The ‘human condition’ is central to Mick Rooney’s paintings, and the influences are relevant and multiple: music, mythology, morality tales, world literature, poetry and travel, alongside an often-present biographical element.

Born in Surrey in 1944, Mick Rooney studied at Sutton and Wimbledon Colleges of Art, the Royal College of Art, and The British School in Rome. He has taught at art colleges throughout the UK and was Head of Painting at the Royal Academy Schools. In 1991, he was elected as a Royal Academician and in 2001, he was elected to the Royal Society of Painters and Printmakers.

Mick Rooney’s work has been exhibited extensively across Europe and the US. It is held in many private collections, including the late HM Queen Elizabeth II, Sir Paul McCartney, The Government Art Collection, and the Royal College of Art.
