Painting: Dawn Rise

’Dawn Rise’ is a lively mixed media painting from James Davis. Dawn rises over a sleepy Scottish fishing port. Only two people are up and about; a fisherman and an old lady with a small dog. Davis captures the colour and atmosphere of the moment and gives us a very real sense of place.

James Davis uses bold colour combined with a soft line to emphasize the light on his painting. This seems to show a great affection for the subject.
