Painting: The Small Box
Barbara Richardson studied contemporary painting at the Chelsea School of Art between 1975 and 1979. She graduated with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art Painting.
Barbara Richardson paints charmingly detailed studies of everyday objects. Her use of light and shade and the skill with which she conveys a sense of texture in her work create small and perfect works of contemporary art.
In ''The Small Box'' we see a study of shape and form. Light and shade are used to define a bowl and small clay bottles. In the foreground the eponymous ''small box'', the only closed container shown. The outlines and subjects are very carefully defined and controlled. Barbara Richardson achieves a balance and serenity in her work.
