Margaret Lovell was born in Bristol in 1939. She studied art at the West of England College of Art from 1956 until 1960. Following that Margaret continued her art studies at the famous Slade School Read more

of Fine Art in London. Whilst at Slade School of Art, Lovell achieved first and second prizes for sculpture, drawing and etching. This was followed by further studying on an Italian State Scholarship Award at the Academy of Fine Art in Florence.

Today Margaret Lovell is a leading sculptor. Her talent and art works are recognised throughout the world. Over a long and successful career Lovell has created and produced a portfolio of sculptures with real enduring appeal. Margaret is a Fellow of the Royal Society of British Sculptors. She is also an elected Member of theRoyal West of England Academy. For the last fifty years her sculptures have been exhibited widely throughout the UK. And she has held numerous solo shows most notably in 2009, at Royal West of England Academy. Her sculptures have also featured in 'Unpopular Culture' ' a national touring show curated by the highly acclaimed British artist, Grayson Perry, from art works selected from the Arts Council's collection.

Today Margaret Lovell is a leading sculptor whose sculptures are recognised by art lovers worldwide. Over a long career Lovell has created and produced a portfolio of sculptures with real enduring appeal. Speaking about her work Margaret Lovell says: 'My sculptures are inspired by organic and natural forms.' She is drawn to the shapes of plants and elements of sea and wind. Recurring themes to Lovell's sculptures are undulating planes with polished bronze edges.

Margaret Lovell sculptures are in many public and corporate art collections throughout the world. These include: City Museum & Art Gallery in Plymouth; Arts Council Great Britain; the University of London; the University of Southampton. Lovell has also been commissioned to produce sculptures. These include: art works for Barclay's Bank; a sculpture for the Great Ouse Water Authority. She also produced sculptures for World Sailing Trophies for John Player and art pieces for the World Achievement Awards at Unilever.

In 2012 Margaret Lovell was awarded an honorary degree by the University of Leicester. In addition to Red Rag Gallery Margaret Lovell sculptures are available at other leading British art galleries.
