Limited Edition Prints and Art Prints at Red Rag
Artist: Quentin Blake

Quentin Blake was born in Kent in 1932. He has drawn ever since he can remember

Quentin Blake is one of the best-loved and most successful British illustrators and children's authors. His first drawings were published in the famous British magazine Punch when he was 16. He has illustrated over 300 books with writers such as, Michael Rosen, Russell Hoban, Joan Aiken, John Yeoman and, most famously of all, Roald Dahl. Quentin Blake writes and illustrates his own books as well, creating such characters as Mister Magnolia, Mrs Armitage and Clown. He has also illustrated classic books for adults.

For many years Quentin Blake taught at the Royal College of Art , where he was head of the Illustration Department from 1978 to 1986. He has won many awards and prizes, and was made an CBE in 2005. According to The Guardian, he was 'already a national institution' when he was appointed the first Children's Laureate in 1999. Since then he has had an additional career as an exhibition curator working in galleries in London and Paris among others.

Quentin Blake has a distinct artistic style. He uses fast, scribbly ink lines, but with a precise stroke. His idiosyncratic use of line adds depth to his drawings and limited edition prints, conveying movement and creating images with a sense of excitement. First, he makes pen-and-ink drawings, and then adds watercolour. The spontaneity of Quentin Blake's style is achieved by making a draft image with a free hand at first, and then tracing elements via light table from the first draft onto subsequent drafts.

In addition to Red Rag Gallery Quentin Blake limited edition prints have featured at other leading British Art Print Galleries. Quentin Blake art prints feature in many private art collections throughout the world. All Quentin Blake signed limited edition prints from Red Rag Art Gallery have been reviewed by the artist.
