Limited Edition Prints by Sarah Jane Szikora Limited Edition Prints and Art Prints at Red Rag Sarah Jane Szikora was born in County Durham in 1971. She took up art and painting whilst at school. She studied art and design at Harrogate College and then illustration at Cleveland College of Art, where she realised her love of drawing, especially human forms. She has been described as an English-born abstract humour artist. She took up art and painting ever since she was in school. She would often visit her father in Hungary, where she gathered inspiration for her paintings from the intriguing people that lived there.Sarah Jane cites her main influence as Thomas Rowlandson, who was a great English caricaturist. Other inspiration for her paintings and limited edition prints have been gathered from the intriguing people in her fathers native Hungary where she has made frequent trips. Here she saw larger than life ladies and gents who were probably the earliest influence for the characters in her art works. Sarah has also derived a lot of inspiration from funny books, films and television. Sarah Jane Szikora paintings and limited edition prints usually feature skinny and fat ladies with small heads, skinny men and gingerbread men. Her art prints try to portray a content society, who are inhabited by positive characters, the women in particular, who are quite comfortable with the way they look, whether fat or skinny.
